Azerbaijan Proposes Prison Terms for AI-Generated Non-Consensual Pornographic Content

Baku: Azerbaijan has introduced a legislative proposal that would impose prison sentences on individuals who produce or distribute pornographic content using artificial intelligence technologies without consent. This initiative, reported by APA, targets those who create or share sexual photo, video, or audio materials generated through AI or special software, using a person’s image or voice without their approval.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed legislation is encapsulated in a new Article 242-1 of the Criminal Code. The draft was presented for discussion during a session of the Milli Majlis. The legislation specifies that those found guilty of producing or distributing such AI-generated materials on media, internet information resources, or telecommunication networks where they are publicly displayed could face imprisonment ranging from three to seven years.

Following deliberations, the draft law was put to a vote and successfully passed in its first reading.
