Azerbaijan Introduces Full-Time Teacher System to Improve Salaries and Integration

Baku: Azerbaijan is set to introduce a full-time teacher system in schools to enhance teacher salaries and integration, as announced by the Minister of Science and Education, Emin Amrullayev. The current hourly-based payment system will continue, but the new full-time teacher concept is being developed as an alternative to address existing challenges.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Minister Amrullayev stated that the goal is for Azerbaijani teachers to feel fully integrated within their schools. He intends to provide comprehensive public information in the coming days to clarify the reasons behind the new calculation mechanism and the problems it aims to address, in order to prevent speculation and unfounded comments.

Minister Amrullayev further highlighted the complexity of issues surrounding teacher salaries. The proposed approach aims for full-time teachers’ salaries to be at least twice the national average. Currently, statistics include salaries of teachers with a 4-6 hour teaching load, which distorts the overall picture. The minister emphasized the need to change the current compulsory mechanism that requires teachers to increase their teaching hours to boost their salaries.
