Baku: Azerbaijan will now charge a state fee of 100 manats for registering more than one mobile phone imported into the country by individuals for personal use. This decision comes as part of proposed amendments to the Tax Code and the Law ‘On State Duty,’ which were discussed in a session of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the amendments also introduce an excise tax of 20 manats on each mobile device imported into Azerbaijan. However, individuals importing one mobile device for personal use within a calendar year will be exempt from this excise tax.
The proposed amendment to the Law ‘On State Fees’ stipulates that a state fee of 100 manats will be necessary for the registration of any additional mobile devices beyond the first one imported within a calendar year. This fee will apply irrespective of the market value of the devices.
The relevant executive authority will approve the amount for the state fee for mobile device registration each year. After discussions, the draft law was put to a vote and successfully adopted in the third reading.
