Baku: Azerbaijan has extradited a person on the international wanted list to Uzbekistan, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA. The individual, Abdullon Shadiyev, was accused of large-scale embezzlement by Uzbekistan’s law enforcement authorities. The extradition request was made by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan for criminal prosecution.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Shadiyev was detained in December 2025 at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Following his detention, a court decision led to a preventive measure of arrest. The decision to extradite was aligned with the Convention of October 7, 2002 ‘On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters.’ On March 18, Shadiyev was officially handed over to the competent authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, escorted by a special convoy from the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
