Azerbaijan Expresses Solidarity with Syria in Statehood Restoration Efforts

Damascus: Azerbaijan has expressed its solidarity with Syria as the latter enters a pivotal stage in restoring its statehood, according to Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev. During a visit to Damascus, Rafiyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s support for the Syrian government’s efforts and wished success to the interim government in its endeavors.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Deputy Foreign Minister Rafiyev communicated these sentiments via his ‘X’ account, stating, “During our visit to Syria, we expressed solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have entered a critical stage in the restoration of statehood.” Rafiyev extended gratitude for the hospitality received in Damascus and reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to supporting Syria during this significant period.

Within the framework of his visit, Rafiyev met with Assad Hassan Ash-Shibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian transitional government. During the meeting, Rafiyev assured that Azerbaijan would provide all possible support to Syria in its current phase and throughout the process of reconstruction. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s experience in liberating its lands from occupation and suggested that this expertise in reconstruction and construction could be valuable in rebuilding Syria.

The visit underscores Azerbaijan’s diplomatic engagement and willingness to support Syria as it navigates the challenges of restoring its statehood and infrastructure.
