Azerbaijan Expands Digital Broadcasting to Khankendi, Khojaly, and Aghdara

Baku: Azerbaijan is set to enhance its television and radio broadcasting capabilities in the Karabakh region with the future commissioning of the “Khankendi” Radio-Television Broadcasting Station (RTBS). This development was discussed at the recent meeting of the Audiovisual Council, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting emphasized the significance of the “Khankendi” RTBS in expanding the coverage area for television and radio broadcasting in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. Currently, broadcasting services are provided through existing stations in “Shusha,” “Shahyeri,” “Turshsu,” and “Hasanriz village,” among others. The new station will ensure that Khankendi, Khojaly, and Aghdara are fully covered with modern digital terrestrial television, radio broadcasting, and analog FM radio services.

The meeting also recognized the efforts of the “Radio Television Broadcasting and Satellite Communication” Production Union in setting up a modern broadcasting network in the liberated territories. Additionally, the State Administration of Radio Frequencies was acknowledged for its role in identifying and utilizing unused radio frequencies in these regions.

In light of the discussions, decisions were made to allocate appropriate radio frequencies to the “Radio Television Broadcasting and Satellite Communication” Production Union. This will facilitate the implementation of DVB-T2 standard digital terrestrial television broadcasting and DAB+ standard digital terrestrial radio broadcasting from the “Khankendi” RTBS. Furthermore, radio frequencies were allocated to ensure analog FM broadcasting for nationwide and regional terrestrial radio broadcasters operating in the area once the “Khankendi” RTYS becomes operational.
