Azerbaijan Exempts Art and Antique Imports from VAT

Baku: Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis has approved a significant amendment to the Tax Code, exempting imports of works of art, collectors’ items, and antiques from value-added tax (VAT). This exemption is aimed at facilitating the entry of cultural and historical goods into the country.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the proposed amendment was discussed in detail during today’s session of the Milli Majlis. The new regulation specifies that the exemption will apply to items classified under the goods nomenclature of foreign economic activity, provided they are accompanied by a supporting document issued by a designated body or institution determined by the relevant executive authority.

The draft law underwent thorough discussions before being put to a vote, where it was adopted in the third reading. The amendment is expected to encourage the importation of valuable cultural artifacts, making it easier for collectors and art enthusiasts to bring such items into Azerbaijan.
