Pohang: The State Tourism Agency and the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) participated in the Annual Summit of the Asia-Pacific Tourism Association (PATA) held in Pohang and Gyeongju, Korea. The Summit, themed ‘Navigating Towards a Resilient Future,’ assembled leaders in tourism from across the Asia-Pacific region, creating a platform for discussions about future industry development and upcoming challenges.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Azerbaijani delegation was an integral part of a session titled ‘Sustainable Tourism Governance in a Post-APEC Landscape.’ This session included discussions on effective government governance strategies for tourism amidst changing geopolitical, economic, and environmental conditions. The dialogue emphasized the importance of coordinating tourism policies, managing tourism destinations sustainably, fostering cross-border cooperation, and promoting the sustainable development of tourism.
A significant meeting during the Summit was between Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), and Noor Ahmad Hamid, PATA’s Chief Executive Officer. They discussed international tourism cooperation opportunities and Azerbaijan’s potential prospects within the Asia-Pacific region.
PATA is recognized for bringing together tourism management organizations and distinguished partners annually, making it one of the most influential networks in the global tourism industry.
