Baku: Azerbaijan detained 3,245 foreigners who violated migration rules this year. During the 3rd quarter of 2025, the State Migration Service (SMS) issued a total of 7,718 decisions regarding the rules of stay, residence, employment of foreigners and stateless persons in the country, as well as other relevant administrative legal violations, SMS told APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, of the foreigners against whom administrative decisions were made, 3,245 individuals were detained during operations carried out by the State Migration Service against irregular migration. It was determined that they were residing illegally without documents granting the right to stay or live in the country, were engaged in activities inconsistent with the declared purpose of their arrival, were involved in illegal labor activities, or were not living at their registered address.
Additionally, 429 foreigners who violated migration legislation were administratively expelled from the territory of the Republic of Azerbai
jan, and their entry into the country was restricted for a period defined by law. The legalization of residence for others or their voluntary departure from the country was ensured.
During this period, three cases related to the organization of irregular migration were identified. During the investigations, it was determined that attempts were made to bring foreigners to the country for various purposes and, upon arrival, to illegally provide them with work and temporary residence permits in the country. The collected evidence regarding those incidents was submitted to the relevant law enforcement agencies for legal assessment.
The State Migration Service continues its operations against irregular migration without interruption.
