Azerbaijan Detains 18 Border Violators in April, Seizes Over 2 Million Manats in Contraband

Baku: The State Border Service of Azerbaijan detained 18 individuals for violating the state border during April, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA. Among those detained were 4 citizens of Azerbaijan, 4 from Afghanistan, 3 from Iran, 3 from Morocco, 2 from Nigeria, 1 from Pakistan, and 1 from Algeria.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, efforts to combat illegal migration led to the detention of 6 individuals attempting to cross the state border using forged date stamps and passports, as well as documents belonging to others. In addition, 58 individuals were detained for violating border regime rules, with appropriate measures taken against them.

Contraband goods with a total value of 2,168,103 manats were detected and seized. The confiscated items included foreign currency, firearms and their ammunition, medicinal products, and tobacco products. Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state borders are being continued.
