Azerbaijan Defense Minister Offers Condolences to Turkey Over Military Loss


Baku: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, has extended his condolences to the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Yasar Guler, following a tragic incident involving Turkish servicemen.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the letter from Colonel General Hasanov expressed sorrow over the events that transpired during the “Pen§e-Kilit” (Claw-Lock) counter-terrorism operation. During search-and-rescue efforts to recover the body of a Turkish Armed Forces officer who was declared Shehid on May 28, 2022, due to a terrorist attack, 19 Turkish servicemen were affected by methane gas in a cave on July 6 of this year. Tragically, five of these servicemen became Shehids.



Colonel General Hasanov emphasized the solidarity between Azerbaijan and Turkey, stating, “Your grief is our grief too. We always stand by the fraternal Turkish Armed Forces in the fierce fight against terrorism and support them.” He also offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the Turkish soldiers who became Shehids and extended his deepest condolences to their families. Additionally, he wished a speedy recovery to the wounded servicemen, concluding with a prayer for the souls of the Shehids to rest in peace.
