Azerbaijan Criticizes Omission of TRIPP Project in EU-Armenia Document

Baku: Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern over the absence of the TRIPP project in the recently signed Strategic Agenda for the EU-Armenia Partnership. The ministry highlighted the issue of labeling Armenians accused and sentenced for crimes against humanity and military crimes as ‘prisoners of war’ and prioritizing their release, calling it a serious distortion of realities.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the ministry further noted that while the EU-Armenia document includes provisions supporting Armenia’s ‘crossroads of peace’ initiative, it fails to mention the ‘Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity’ (TRIPP) project. The TRIPP project, considered a crucial arrangement in the normalization process, was agreed upon during the 8 August Washington D.C. Summit. The omission of this project raises questions about Armenia’s commitment to the TRIPP agreement, co-signed by Armenia’s Prime Minister in Washington D.C., and the EU’s support for the initiative.
