BAKU: A total of 2,794 observers for Azerbaijan’s snap parliamentary election have been registered so far, Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said at the CEC meeting in Baku today, Trend reports.
According to him, 1,867 of the observers were nominated on their own initiative, 569 – from NGOs, and 126 – observers, nominated by the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), who received special permission to observe meetings of election commissions.
Besides, 11 international observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights have been registered, he added.
On June 28, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the dissolution of the Azerbaijani Parliament of the sixth convocation and the appointment of an extraordinary election to the Azerbaijani Parliament.
The snap election is scheduled for September 1, 2024.
