Baku:Azerbaijan has expressed discontent over recent remarks made by the Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Hossein Simaei-Sarraf, regarding the country’s education system. The Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan described the comments as surprising and regrettable.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Azerbaijani ministry stated that the remarks from the Iranian minister represent an inappropriate attempt to interfere in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs. The ministry emphasized that Azerbaijan’s education policy is a domestic matter and interference from other nations will not be tolerated.
The ministry further criticized the Iranian government’s policies, noting the lack of educational opportunities in the Azerbaijani language within Iran. Despite a significant Azerbaijani population in Iran, the ministry highlighted the absence of educational institutions offering instruction in the Azerbaijani language, urging Iranian officials to focus on resolving issues within their own country.
