Ganja: The closing ceremony of the 3rd CIS Games was held in Ganja, as reported by APA’s local bureau. The event took place at the Ganja city stadium and concluded with a concert and fireworks display.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ceremony, hosted by Azerbaijan for the first time, marked the successful completion of the Games. Organized at the Ganja Stadium, the ceremony began with an artistic performance and a video showcasing the highlights of the Games. Samir Sharifov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, announced the conclusion of the competitions and highlighted the participation of athletes from eight CIS member states and five additional countries. These athletes competed in 23 sports disciplines, vying for 235 sets of individual and team awards.
During the event, the flag of the 3rd CIS Games was lowered, and the National Anthem was played. The ceremony continued with further artistic performances. Azerbaijan concluded the Games with a total of 184 medals-33 gold, 56 silver, and 95 bronze-securing second place in the overall medal standings, behind Russia. This performance marks Azerbaijan’s best in the CIS Games since their inception in 2021.
The 3rd CIS Games were hosted across seven Azerbaijani cities, including Ganja, Sheki, Gabala, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Goygol, and Khankendi.
