Azerbaijan Approves Action Plan to Declare Shusha as Tourism Capital of ECO for 2026


Baku: Azerbaijan has officially approved an action plan to declare the city of Shusha as the ‘Tourism Capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) for 2026’. Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed the order authorizing this designation.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Tourism Agency has been appointed as the coordinating body responsible for implementing the measures outlined in the action plan. The financial support for these measures will come from funds allocated to the relevant implementing bodies in Azerbaijan’s state budget for 2026, as well as from other legally permitted sources.



This order is effective immediately upon the date of its signing, marking a significant step in promoting Shusha as a key tourism destination within the ECO framework.
