“By launching new green energy production capacities, it will be possible to save 1.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas directed for electricity production in Azerbaijan by 2030,” Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Orkhan Zeynalov said during his speech at the 12th International Caspian Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, as a result of the increase in green energy production, 800 million cubic meters of gas will be saved by 2027.
“The saved gas volumes will be directed towards export accordingly,” the Deputy Minister noted.
He added that Azerbaijan has set a target to increase the installed capacity for generating electricity from alternative and renewable energy sources to 30% by 2030. However, within the framework of the work being carried out in this field, this figure may be higher.
The mentioned indicator is expected to reach 32.5% by 2027 and 35% by 2030.
