Baku: Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Rovshan Rzayev met with a delegation from the World Bank to discuss ongoing cooperation efforts within the framework of the Great Return initiative. The meeting focused on the First State Program on the Great Return, which aims to ensure the sustainable settlement of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, World Bank officials were briefed about the current measures being undertaken by the Committee to support IDPs. Rovshan Rzayev highlighted the significance of the collaborative project with the World Bank, which aims to create employment opportunities for IDPs who are resettling in their native regions. To date, approximately 800 IDPs in Azerbaijan have benefited from job-related training programs as part of this initiative supported by the World Bank.
Eric Caldwell Johnson, Project Manager for Improved Livelihoods for Internally Displaced Persons in Azerbaijan; Sabina Anne Espinoza, a World Bank employee; and Khalisa Shahverdiyeva, World Bank representative for Azerbaijan, underscored the importance of collaborative efforts on IDP-related projects. They praised the accomplishments of the project and reiterated their commitment to ongoing cooperation in this area.
