Azerbaijan and Ukraine Enhance Security Cooperation Amid Geopolitical Tensions


Baku: A new episode of “Azerbaijan and the World” has been released on the AZERTAC website, featuring a discussion between host Tamilla Mamedova and Ukrainian political scientist Vladislav Olenchenko. The episode delves into the significance of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Azerbaijan and explores the prospects for enhanced bilateral cooperation.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Olenchenko highlighted the importance of this visit in the current geopolitical climate. This marks the first visit since the onset of the Russia-Ukraine war, carrying both practical implications and symbolic significance. Azerbaijan has been a pivotal ally, providing Ukraine with substantial humanitarian and energy assistance, especially during challenging periods marked by electricity and heating shortages.



The format of the discussions, including a private meeting between leaders, underscores the deep trust between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Olenchenko identified key areas for future collaboration, such as the protection of energy infrastructure, countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and engaging in joint security and modern technology projects.



Olenchenko further emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to share its expertise and technologies in critical infrastructure protection with Azerbaijan, reflecting the robust strategic cooperation and trust established between Baku and Kyiv.
