Baku: Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov held an online meeting with Kenyan Energy and Petroleum Minister James Opiyo Wandayi, APA-Economics reports citing the ministry. A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the energy sector was signed between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of the Republic of Kenya.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Memorandum of Understanding outlines a strategic roadmap for broad cooperation based on mutual interests and potential opportunities in the energy sector of both countries. The document encompasses the oil and gas sectors, including LNG, electricity, and renewable energy. Additionally, it includes cooperation in promoting joint investments, improving energy networks, and ensuring energy security.
The memorandum specifies that the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of Kenya, along with SOCAR and Kenyan oil and gas companies, will collaborate in potential areas. It is planned to establish a Joint Working Group to address issues arising from the memorandum.
