Azerbaijan and Chile Strengthen Bilateral Relations Through Political Consultations


Santiago: Santiago, the capital of Chile, hosted the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Chile. The consultations were led by Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Patricio Torres, Chile’s Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs. The discussions centered on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Chile in various sectors including political, economic, humanitarian, energy, cultural, and tourism. Both sides expressed mutual support for establishing cooperation between relevant institutions to promote trade, business, and investment.



According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, a memorandum of understanding on academic cooperation was signed between ADA University of Azerbaijan and Chile’s Andr©s Bello Diplomatic Academy at the conclusion of the consultations. The Azerbaijani delegation also met with Paula Est©vez Weinstein, Vice Minister of International Economic Relations at Chile’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to explore opportunities for enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries. The importance of implementing joint initiatives in this area was underscored.



Further meetings were held with Iv¡n Moreira, Vice President of the Senate of the National Congress of Chile, Manuel Jos© Ossand³n, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Rojo Edwards, the newly appointed Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Chilean Senate, and other members of the Friendship Group. During these discussions, the parties expressed support for promoting parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening cooperation on both bilateral and international platforms.



As part of the visit, Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov delivered a presentation on ‘Azerbaijan’s Foreign Policy’ at the Andr©s Bello Diplomatic Academy, further emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the consultations.
