“Within the framework of the new realities emerging in the region, we do not see any obstacles to signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev told journalists, APA reports.
Mr. Hajiyev emphasized that rather than playing with words, it is very important for the Armenian side to take a concrete step forward and sit down at the table: “It is difficult to say a word about it yet. We are waiting for clear ideas from Armenia. Armenia is still looking beyond the region when it comes to a peace treaty. What we are saying is that instead of bringing the agenda of third parties here, it is necessary to own the region itself and advance the negotiations on the peace agreement. The ball is currently in Armenia’s court.”
