Baku: The “Ancestors” exhibition has opened at the Q Gallery in Icherisheher, as part of the ‘Art Weekend’ organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Union, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the exhibition features contemporary Azerbaijani artists Faig Ahmed, Rashad Alakbarov, Orkhan Huseynov, and Farid Rasulov. These artists aim to bridge the past and present through their artworks, fostering a connection with the deep layers of the national spirit. Faig Ahmed’s pieces, for instance, present human portraits in minimalistic forms, inviting viewers to introspect and explore their emotions.
Rashad Alakbarov translates the ‘Proverbs of the Ancestors’ into visual art, emphasizing the timeless relevance of these sayings. Farid
Rasulov’s focus on sheep as a totemic symbol underscores the cultural continuity from ancestors. Orkhan Huseynov depicts historical elements through everyday life details, presenting landscapes and spaces marked by previous generations.
