Davos: Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan remarked on the current state of peace during his speech at the World Economic Forum’s panel on ‘Defining the Economic Identity of Eurasia’. He acknowledged that the present situation, characterized by an absence of conflict, is unprecedented in over three decades.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Khachaturyan referenced comments by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, noting the political will and courage both nations have exercised to foster peace. He emphasized that the current environment would have seemed unbelievable just a year or two ago. Highlighting progress, he mentioned the transport of cargo from Azerbaijan to Armenia via Georgia, expressing optimism for future direct transport links between the two countries.
The Armenian President underscored the importance of looking forward rather than dwelling on past conflicts from the 1990s. He stressed that focusing on the past could hinder potential opportunities. President Khachaturyan affirmed the commitment of both nations to learn to coexist peacefully, recognizing that such a state is not typical for Armenia either.
