Baku: A total of 514 anti-personnel mines, 121 anti-tank mines, and 2,724 unexploded ordnances (UXOs) were detected and neutralized during mine-clearance operations carried out in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories last month, according to the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA). The agency noted that 7,568.9 hectares of land were cleared of mines and UXOs during the reporting period.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, these operations are part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and rehabilitation of areas affected by past conflicts. The cleared land is expected to be repurposed for agriculture, infrastructure development, and the resettlement of displaced communities. ANAMA continues to work closely with international partners to expedite the clearance process and provide training for local personnel in demining techniques.
