Baku: UK-Azerbaijan educational ties are extraordinary and still growing, built on three decades of collaboration since the British Council began operations here in 1993, said His Excellency Mr. Fergus Auld, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Azerbaijan, in his interview with APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ambassador emphasized the significant impact of UK-educated Azerbaijani professionals, who hold senior positions across both public and private sectors, illustrating the lasting value of investment in human capital. He highlighted key programmes such as Chevening and the John Smith Trust, which continue to expand opportunities for Azerbaijani students. The ambassador noted that a considerable number of Azerbaijani students choose UK universities each year, thanks in part to Azerbaijan’s State Scholarship Programme. This choice underscores the recognition among young Azerbaijanis that a British education can enhance their personal and professional development opportunities while ensuring a warm welcome in the UK.
