An unstable epidemiological situation in the incidence of measles has been observed in Almaty since the beginning of March. 1,097 cases have been registered, of which 966 are among children aged under 14, Kazinform reports.
Head of the city department of sanitary and epidemiological control Kasymkhan Alpysbayuly notes that the incidence is recorded “mainly among the unvaccinated due to refusal to vaccinate, as well as due to medical exemptions from vaccinations and not reaching the vaccination age.”
It is reported that 14,893 contact persons have been identified. 277 people have been vaccinated according to epidemiological indications and are subject to emergency immunization against measles. All contact persons are under medical observation.
