Global Stock Markets Exhibit Mixed Performance Amidst Declines in Asia and Europe

New York: Major stock market indices worldwide displayed a mixed performance as trading commenced on Thursday, with notable declines observed across Asian and European markets.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Asian markets opened lower with the Shanghai Composite Index starting at 3,347.59 points, a drop of 0.12 percent. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw a decline, opening at 10,765.95 points, down 0.06 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index registered a more significant decrease of 0.99 percent, opening at 22,716.71 points. Australia’s S and P/ASX 200 index fell by 1.52 percent, opening at 8,291.50 points. Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average and Singapore’s Straits Times Index were also down, opening at 38,942.91 points and 3,922.77 points respectively. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index opened at 2,661.72 points, a decrease of 0.37 percent.

In contrast, the United States markets showed gains at the close of the previous trading day. The S and P 500 Index closed with a rise of 0.24 percent at 6,144.15
points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also rose by 0.16 percent, closing at 44,627.59 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index saw a modest increase of 0.07 percent, closing at 20,056.25 points.

European markets, meanwhile, experienced declines. The DAX Index closed at 22,433.63 points, marking a decrease of 1.80 percent. The FTSE 100 Index fell by 0.62 percent, closing at 8,712.53 points, while the Paris CAC 40 closed 1.17 percent lower at 8,110.54 points. These movements reflect varying investor sentiments across different regions, with European and Asian markets facing challenges while U.S. indices recorded gains.
