27% of Russian Investments in Azerbaijan Directed to Oil and Gas Sector

Baku: Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev revealed at the Azerbaijan-Russia Business Council meeting held in Baku that as of April 1, 2026, over 2,100 commercial entities with Russian capital have been registered in Azerbaijan, with more than 1,400 actively operating. These entities are involved in various sectors of the economy, such as industry, agriculture, transport, construction, trade, pharmaceuticals, and services.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the volume of direct investments from Russia into Azerbaijan’s economy has reached $10.7 billion. Of this total, $2.9 billion has been allocated to the oil and gas sector, accounting for 27% of the Russian investments in the country. This significant investment underscores the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia, particularly in the energy sector.
