15th Plenary Session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly Concludes in Baku

Baku: The 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) concluded in Baku on Thursday. The session, themed ‘Role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening multilateral cooperation in Asia’, gathered members of international organizations, parliamentarians, and experts to focus on enhancing political, economic, and social cooperation in the region, promoting multilateralism, and addressing both regional and global challenges.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the closing ceremony included the consideration and approval of annual reports from various standing committees. These reports were presented by the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Affairs, the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning, the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development, and the Standing Committee on Political Affairs. Key issues such as the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation in Asia, economic and social stability, budget planning, and political dialogue were addressed during the session.

The session also saw the approval of APA Vice-Presidents for 2025 and the nomination of a candidate for the APA presidency for 2026-2027, which are expected to ensure the effective continuation of the Assembly’s future activities. Additionally, several amendments to the Charter and internal regulations of APA, recommended by the Executive Council, were deliberated and unanimously approved. These amendments aim to improve the Assembly’s activities and enhance the efficiency of its management.
