UK Seeks to Boost Non-Oil Trade with Azerbaijan

Baku:The United Kingdom is looking to enhance its trade relations with Azerbaijan, particularly focusing on the non-oil sector. This was stated by UK Minister of State for Trade Lord Anas Sarwar during the 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan-UK Joint Intergovernmental Commission.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Lord Anas Sarwar highlighted the potential for developing partnerships in energy beyond oil trade and emphasized the necessity of expanding investment ties as well as the range of sectors involved.

He noted that there are already significant examples of mutual investments between the UK and Azerbaijan, expressing a desire to see these grow and diversify further. This would involve scaling up the relationship in terms of investment volume and sectoral diversity.

Lord Sarwar also underscored the importance of advancing the bilateral partnership, which has spanned nearly 35 years, to a new level. Beyond economic collaboration, the relationship also encompasses defense and security areas, with the UK valuing its alliance with Azerbaijan and being committed to strengthening it.
