Trkiye Announces Groundbreaking Ceremony Date for Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Dilucu Railway

Ankara: The groundbreaking ceremony for the Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Dilucu railway line is scheduled for August 22, as announced by Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu. This line is set to play a significant role in the Zangezur corridor, facilitating communication between Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

According to Trend News Agency, the Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Dilucu railway will stretch over 224 kilometers. Uraloglu highlighted that the railway will have the capacity to handle 5.5 million passengers and transport 15 million tons of cargo annually.

The minister emphasized that the railway will introduce a new, uninterrupted connection between Trkiye and Azerbaijan. This development is expected to accelerate the distribution of Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia’s production to foreign markets and enhance the tourism potential of the Mediterranean region.

He further stated that the Zangezur Corridor will bolster economic cooperation in the South Caucasus, allowing the East-West line, which extends from Beijing to London, to operate more efficiently.
