Baku: SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf met with a delegation led by Zhang Chuanjiang, Chairman of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), marking a significant step in strengthening ties between the two organizations. The meeting, held on 1 September 2026, focused on reviewing potential areas for collaboration in offshore oil and gas exploration, development, and production, alongside investment opportunities in oil refining and petrochemicals.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions also delved into cooperation in international trade, the application of new technologies, and ways to enhance operational efficiency. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between SOCAR and CNOOC as a result of these discussions.
The agreement outlines plans for joint upstream projects in Azerbaijan and other countries. It also aims to expand cooperation in the oil and gas sector, covering technical services, supply of equipment and technologies, engineering, operations, and technical support.
