Baku: Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova is currently in Serbia on a working visit to participate in the High-Level Commemorative Meeting marking the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement Member States. The Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis informed APA about the visit and Gafarova’s role in the event.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Speaker of Parliament delivered a speech at the conference, opening with the regards of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in recognition of the event’s significance. Gafarova emphasized the enduring importance of the Non-Aligned Movement’s core principles, such as respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, equality of states, non-interference in internal affairs, fairness, peaceful coexistence, and adherence to international obligations. She highlighted these principles as critical for maintaining stability in global relations and promoting a fair world order.
The Speaker further noted that the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement align closely with Azerbaijan’s foreign policy directions. These principles have been particularly influential during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Movement from 2019 to 2024. Gafarova stressed the importance of the Movement’s unity and solidarity, the need to amplify its voice on the international stage, and its role in fostering a just and equal world order.
