President Ilham Aliyev Meets Iranian Political Advisor to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation


Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Mehdi Sanaei, the Political Advisor to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting took place on April 1 and was aimed at strengthening the ties between the two neighboring nations.



Mehdi Sanaei conveyed the greetings of the Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, to President Ilham Aliyev, who reciprocated by sending his regards to the Iranian President. During the meeting, Sanaei recalled his previous visits to Azerbaijan and noted the country’s ongoing development. He emphasized Iran’s focus on enhancing relations with neighboring countries like Azerbaijan, highlighting their shared historical, religious, and cultural connections.



President Ilham Aliyev acknowledged the shared values between Azerbaijan and Iran and expressed satisfaction with the recent series of reciprocal visits, which have positively impacted bilateral relations. He expressed hope that Sanaei’s visit would facilitate discussions on the bilateral agenda.



The discussions also covered various areas of cooperation, including transport, economic, trade, and energy sectors. Both sides reviewed the activity of the intergovernmental commission and discussed the development of the North-South Transport Corridor. Additionally, the progress of the bridge construction over the Araz River in the Aghbend direction was also addressed.
