President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Strong Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Relations


Baku: Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations are built on a very solid foundation, President Ilham Aliyev stated during a joint press statement with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as reported by APA’s special correspondent.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the value of the projects discussed during their meeting, noting that each project contributes uniquely to the bilateral relationship. The discussions covered a range of sectors including energy, transport, investment projects, tourism, mining, the automotive industry, agriculture, and the processing sector. He highlighted the multifaceted nature of the cooperation, pointing out that the establishment and inauguration of new projects underscore the depth of their collaboration.



President Aliyev also mentioned the expansion into the banking sector with Azerbaijan’s leading bank entering the Uzbek market, and SOCAR’s entrance into Uzbekistan’s retail market. He noted the progress in oil and gas exploration projects, expressing optimism for successful outcomes from exploration activities in the coming year, which would pave the way for drilling production wells.



He concluded by stating that the bilateral relations are grounded on a solid spiritual and material foundation, a synthesis rarely seen in world politics. The mutual aspirations of the governments towards development and improving living conditions for their people are significant factors driving their success.
