Baku: President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to Kyrgyzstan marked a significant step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. The visit, which included a series of high-profile meetings and events, underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance cooperation in various sectors.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, one of the pivotal moments of the visit was President Aliyev’s address at the SCO Plus format meeting, where he emphasized the importance of regional collaboration. The President highlighted the transformation of the South Caucasus region from a conflict zone to a peaceful area, stressing the ongoing efforts with Armenia to establish new overland transport links that could further facilitate this change.
During his stay, President Aliyev also met with the Prime Minister of India, indicating a broadening of Azerbaijan’s diplomatic engagements beyond its immediate geographical area. Additionally, President Aliyev concluded his visit by celebrating the Treaty on Allied Relations with his Kyrgyz counterpart, stating that it has elevated Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz relations to their highest level.
Furthermore, Azerbaijani First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva participated in cultural diplomacy by viewing an exhibition of handicrafts in Bishkek, showcasing the shared cultural values between the two countries. The meeting between the Azerbaijani and Turkish Presidents, highlighted by Turkish media, further reinforced the unity and cooperation among Turkic nations.
On the domestic front, Azerbaijan continues to focus on development and resettlement efforts. Another 117 families were relocated to Aghdam city, receiving keys to new homes as part of the country’s rebuilding initiatives. In addition, ANAMA and NATO have agreed to enhance cooperation in humanitarian demining, ensuring safer living conditions in the region.
On the international stage, the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker called for a stronger voice for the Non-Aligned Movement in global affairs, while Azerbaijan and Serbia took steps to strengthen their interparliamentary ties, signaling a commitment to broaden Azerbaijan’s international partnerships.
