Baku:President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Louise Morsing, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Azerbaijan, on September 23 as she presented her credentials.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting included discussions on enhancing bilateral relations, with President Aliyev expressing optimism about expanding cooperation in investment, trade, and business. He also emphasized the importance of mutual visits and meetings to foster these relations.
Ambassador Morsing expressed her gratitude for the reception and committed to working towards strengthening ties between the two countries. She congratulated President Aliyev on the progress in the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia and supported the efforts to build trust.
The ambassador noted the presence of Azerbaijani students in Sweden and hoped they would contribute to future Azerbaijan-Sweden relations. She also highlighted resumed negotiations on a bilateral agreement with the European Union and commended Azerbaijan’s humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
President Aliyev reiterated Azerbaijan’s role in initiating the peace process with Armenia and praised the unprecedented nature of the peace achieved. He also noted the positive relations with the European Union, recalling visits from EU leaders this year.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-Sweden cooperation, addressing mutual interests.
