Baku: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Ying Yong, the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China. The meeting, which took place on September 2, included notable Chinese legal figures such as Chen Yong, Chief Prosecutor of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Procuratorate, Zhao Tieshi, Chief Prosecutor of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Procuratorate, and Shen Jian, Chief Prosecutor of the Gansu Provincial People’s Procuratorate.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the significance of the delegation’s visit, which he described as very important and successful. This visit is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between China and Azerbaijan. The President expressed gratitude for the hospitality he received during his state visit to China last year, highlighting the close friendship between the two nations.
He noted the active participation of Chinese companies in Azerbaijan’s projects since April, underscoring the mutual travel and cooperation between the countries. Aliyev also highlighted the strong support for sovereignty and territorial integrity shared by both nations, as reiterated by Chinese President Xi Jinping during a recent high-level meeting in Bishkek.
The President praised the Belt and Road Initiative, which Azerbaijan supports through practical steps to enhance connectivity between Central Asia, Azerbaijan, and China. He mentioned his recent and upcoming visits to Central Asian countries, where connectivity remains a key topic of discussion. China plays a significant role in this context due to its cargo volumes.
Aliyev also expressed optimism for cooperation in the legal field, appreciating the delegation’s extended stay in Azerbaijan for negotiations and exploration. He concluded by highlighting the elimination of visa requirements between Azerbaijan and China, marking it as a sign of friendship and mutual trust. The President wished the delegation a safe return to China.
