Global: Oil prices have surged as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate. Brent crude futures for November delivery saw an increase of $0.75, or 0.79%, reaching $95.40 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures for October delivery climbed by $0.45, or 0.50%, to $90.67 per barrel.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the rising oil prices are a result of ongoing exchanges of military strikes between the US and Iran. This situation has heightened concerns about potential disruptions in global energy supplies. Market observers are particularly anxious about the possible impact on oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy transit route.
The Strait of Hormuz is known as one of the world’s most vital chokepoints for oil transportation. Any substantial disruption in this strategic waterway could significantly tighten global oil supplies, thus exerting more upward pressure on crude prices.
