Baku:Major General Davud Rustamov, Head of the Cybersecurity Operations Center at the State Security Service, reported a satisfactory state of cyber defense in the defense sector during a sectoral meeting on ‘Cybersecurity in the Defense Sector.’ The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Defense Industry and the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Organizations Association (ACOA) at ADEX 2026, highlighted various cybersecurity concerns.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Major General Rustamov noted that while cyber-physical threats are increasing concern levels, digital transformation introduces new risks. He emphasized that geopolitical changes and conflicts have shown that military facilities are now targets of cyber threats, with an increase in cases of tracking military equipment movements. The primary motivation of adversaries is to obtain classified information.
Major General Rustamov pointed out that malicious actors in the defense sector are distinct from those in other sectors, often being state-backed. Despite these threats, he assured that Azerbaijan’s cyber defense level is high, with no incidents recorded in the defense sector. Collective efforts to address any deficiencies have been successful.
He further emphasized the importance of establishing test laboratories to assess information technology security in all organizations, including small enterprises, as a preventive measure.
