Baku: In the 2025-2026 academic year, foreign students from nearly 120 countries studied at higher education institutions in Azerbaijan. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Ministry of Science and Education reported that the countries of origin of students choosing Azerbaijan for their education extended beyond Asia and Africa. Students from regions such as Trkiye, the People’s Republic of China, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Uganda, and Rwanda were joined by young people from European countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Lithuania. Additionally, students from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia also pursued their studies in Azerbaijan.
In the current academic year, Azerbaijani higher education institutions continue to admit students from various regions across the globe, welcoming them to the country. The presence of students from diverse continents and countries underscores the growing international appeal of Azerbaijan’s higher education sector.
The ‘Study in Azerbaijan’ initiative continues to promote the country’s higher education opportunities on an international scale. Efforts are ongoing to increase awareness of the educational opportunities available to foreign students and to solidify Azerbaijan’s position as a sought-after international education destination.
