Nakhchivan: The Nakhchivan State University and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSFAU) have signed a Memorandum on cooperation to implement a dual-degree master’s program in ‘Sustainable Urban Planning and Regional Development.’
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the sides will engage in large-scale cooperation in the fields of architecture and art, and implement joint projects and academic initiatives. This collaboration is particularly important in the context of the ‘Year of Urban Planning and Architecture’ declared in Azerbaijan.
The launch of the initiative, coinciding with the 900th anniversary of architect Ajami Nakhchivani, a prominent representative of the Azerbaijani school of architecture, holds both symbolic and historical meaning. One of the main initiatives of the cooperation is the ‘Architect Ajami – Architect Sinan Architecture Park’ project. The project aims to unite the heritage of two prominent representatives of the Azerbaijani and Turkish schools of architecture – Architect Ajami and Architect Sinan – within a single conceptual site. The initiative will serve to express common historical and cultural values in the field of architecture.
The document envisages the invitation of professors from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University to Nakhchivan State University, as well as the organization of joint symposia, conferences, exhibitions, short-term courses, and seminars. The memorandum also includes an exchange of academic staff, including joint initiatives in fields such as cultural heritage protection, architectural monuments, environmental management, and design.
