Baku: The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) should take concrete steps towards the formation of a multipolar world order, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his speech at the ‘SCO Plus’ format meeting, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Bishkek reports. Lukashenko emphasized the urgency of action, stating, “People expect concrete steps from us towards multipolarity. Time is passing. If we lose time, we may find ourselves in the current situation of the UN.”
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Belarusian President highlighted the necessity of SCO countries’ participation in solving global issues such as climate change, combating epidemics, and stabilizing energy markets. Lukashenko stressed that without the involvement of SCO nations, these global challenges would remain unresolved.
Lukashenko also mentioned the potential benefits of strengthening cooperation between the SCO and the UN. He suggested that this partnership could enhance international peace and security while addressing terrorism, cyber threats, and illicit drug trafficking. He envisions the SCO as a future catalyst for renewing the UN, thereby reinforcing the organization’s capability to tackle global issues effectively.
