Lionel Messi Reaches Agreement to Acquire Spanish Club Eldense

Baku: Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has reached an agreement in principle to acquire Spanish club Eldense, APA reports citing newspaper Marca.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Messi has reached an agreement with the current owners of Eldense and plans to acquire 100% of the shares without third-party involvement. This business venture is reportedly motivated by Messi’s desire to invest his legacy in football. Eldense, a team competing in the second-tier Spanish league, is situated in the province of Alicante, near Catalonia. Messi has expressed plans to reside in Catalonia after retiring from professional football.

Should the agreement proceed as planned, Messi will acquire a second team in 2026. Earlier in April, it was announced that the Argentine football legend had become the owner of CornellĀ , a club located in Catalonia.
