Baku: ‘Effective oversight mechanisms are envisaged in Azerbaijan’s draft law on social media,” Aytan Mammadova, Head of Department at the Ministry of Justice, said during a public discussion of a draft law proposing amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, the Law “On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information,” and the Law “On Protection of Children from Harmful Information,” organized by the Media Development Agency, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft includes particularly effective regulation and oversight mechanisms. Mammadova explained that these tools will empower parents to manage the time their children spend on social media. In addition, the content and advertisements shown to children will be regulated through parental control. This approach aims to prevent potential harm to children’s psychological and physiological development at an early stage and to facilitate their adaptation to the real social and cultural environment.
