Tehran:Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated during a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev that Azerbaijan holds a significant position in Iran’s neighborhood policy.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Pezeshkian discussed the positive dynamics of the relationship between Iran and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the need to fully utilize existing opportunities to strengthen and expand their bilateral ties. He referred to the two nations as “relatives and brothers,” advocating for enhanced cooperation by taking advantage of their geographic proximity.
Pezeshkian highlighted the extensive connections between the countries in various fields such as science, culture, economy, politics, and security. He stressed the importance of joint efforts to further solidify these relationships and noted that their shared border should serve as an opportunity rather than a barrier.
Expressing satisfaction with the agreements reached during Mustafayev’s visit, particularly in discussions with Iran’s Ministers of Roads and Urban Development and Energy, Pezeshkian underscored the need for prompt implementation of these agreements. He identified the development of transport and communication routes as crucial for strengthening ties, suggesting that road, air, and rail connections between the two countries should be further developed.
Mustafayev, on his part, reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to deepening relations with Iran, emphasizing the necessity of ensuring the implementation of agreements and enhancing transport and communication infrastructure.
