India Explores LNG Purchase from Azerbaijan


Goa: India is seeking to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Azerbaijan, as revealed by the head of the LNG division of India’s Bharat Petroleum during an interview with The Hindu newspaper on the sidelines of India Energy Week held in Goa, APA reports.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Bharat Petroleum executive noted that India’s state-owned oil refining company is in discussions with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) regarding the procurement of LNG. Concurrently, the company plans to acquire liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the United States at more competitive prices to diversify its energy supplies and has announced a tender to facilitate this strategy.
