Hikmat Hajiyev Discusses New Regional Security Architecture at Antalya Forum

Antalya: ‘The establishment of real peace is the main factor ensuring security for both Armenia and Azerbaijan,’ said Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration. Hajiyev made these remarks during a panel titled ‘South Caucasus: An Emerging Strategic Center’ at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, as reported by APA’s correspondent in Trkiye.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Hajiyev emphasized the importance of building a new regional security architecture to ensure lasting peace and security for both Armenia and Azerbaijan. He highlighted the need for a new status quo in the South Caucasus region, which is formed on principles of legality and legitimacy. This approach includes considering the import of certain products from Armenia, thereby serving the interests of both nations. Hajiyev also noted the challenges faced by the region due to its proximity to conflict zones, referencing the Russia-Ukraine war to the north and escalating tensions between the United States-Israel and Iran to the south. Despite these challenges, he reiterated that establishing real peace remains essential for ensuring on-the-ground security for both countries.
