‘Harmony’ Documentary Showcased in Rome Highlights Religious Coexistence


Rome:The ‘Harmony’ documentary was presented in Rome, Italy, featuring a narrative about religious coexistence in Azerbaijan. The event was attended by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.



According to Azeri-Press news agency, the documentary was a collaboration between Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Religious Associations, the Moral Values Promotion Foundation, and the Baku Media Center, with Arzu Aliyeva as the executive producer.



The screening attracted members of the Azerbaijani delegation, Holy See officials, diplomats, and religious community representatives. Prior to the film, attendees viewed an exhibition on Azerbaijan’s religious and cultural heritage.



Ilgar Mukhtarov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the Holy See, expressed gratitude to those involved in the film’s production, emphasizing its message of unity despite religious differences. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s tradition of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism coexisting in harmony.



Father Laurent Basanese conveyed a message from Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, emphasizing that harmony involves embracing differences with respect and dialogue. The cardinal’s message called for interreligious dialogue to extend beyond formalities into everyday life.



Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Religious Associations, noted Azerbaijan’s historical role in fostering multiculturalism and peaceful coexistence. He described the documentary as a moral message from Azerbaijan, showcasing the lives of three women from different religious backgrounds.



The event concluded with the screening of the documentary, which is also being featured at international film festivals and cinema platforms.
